PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Grey Worm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Mayo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Worm comes to the cage accompanied by Der Kaptain. Mayo has chosen Super Furry Animals - Golden Retriever as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mayo clinches.
Mayo trying to land knees to the body.
Worm letting Mayo take a breather here.
Mayo throws a knee to the head but misses.
Mayo is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Worm is defending well for now.
Mayo tries to stall but Worm uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Worm is trying to drag Mayo to the mat but Mayo just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Mayo pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mayo lands with a left to the head.
Mayo is trying to maintain a safe position but Worm gets an underhook and turns Mayo into the cage.

A head punch blocked on the inside by Worm.
Mayo putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Worm in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
Mayo doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Worm drags the fight down to the ground.
Mayo sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Worm's guard.
Worm tries to roll over but Mayo keeps him under control.
Worm pushes Mayo off looking to stand but Mayo dives back in and keeps control.
Mayo thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Worm's head.
Mayo wants to control but Worm is keeping him busy.
Mayo not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Worm is positioning himself well to prevent Mayo advancing to mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mayo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Worm keeps working.

Mayo content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Worm has locked up a guillotine! Worm's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Mayo is holding on here and Worm must be using up a lot of energy. Mayo has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Worm gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Grey Worm!
A relieved looking Grey Worm thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
