Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Edmund Compton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Martin Kocka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Martin Kocka has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Edmund Compton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Martin Kocka!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Donatello Bradman and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kocka shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Compton looking to control.
Kocka is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Kocka looking to pass the guard.
Compton controlling Kocka's posture.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kocka accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kocka wanted to stand there but Compton had control of the position.
Compton looking for a sweep. Not yet Compton, not yet.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Compton keeping full guard, as Kocka tries to pass.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Compton takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Martin Kocka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kocka looking to score a takedown here. Compton is defending well but Kocka drives through and ends up in Compton's guard.
Compton not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Compton really is a fat lump.
Kocka controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Kocka's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Compton is trying to control the position but Kocka postures up.

Compton stops Kocka from passing to mount.

Compton takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Compton manages to work his way to half guard, despite Kocka's best efforts.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Compton tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kocka trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Compton keeping moving, preventing Kocka from controlling successfully.
Compton not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Kocka wants to get up but he can't break Compton's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Compton fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Kocka to the ground. Compton is now in Kocka's guard.
Compton distracts Kocka with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Kocka wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Compton postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Compton shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Kocka looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Compton puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Kocka is looking for a sweep. Compton is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Compton is looking to take a break and control but Kocka is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Compton wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kocka keeps working.

Kocka pushes Compton off looking to stand but Compton dives back in and keeps control.
The fighters are battling for position here. Kocka manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Kocka is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Compton misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Kocka content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Kocka wants to control but Compton is keeping him busy.

Compton has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kocka is working away from the top position though.

Compton is trying to maintain the position but Kocka is very close to passing his half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kocka seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Compton does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Compton is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Kocka tries to stand but can't do so whilst Compton controls his leg.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Kocka bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Kocka wants to control but Compton is keeping him busy.
Kocka sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Compton is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Kocka stands up and beckons Compton to his feet.

Kocka shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Compton manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Kocka would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Kocka gets to his feet. Compton looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Kocka lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Compton backs up against the cage.
Kocka digs a good hook to Compton's body.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Compton.
Compton sets himself, and Kocka steps forward looking for the clinch! Compton avoids it this time.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
A head kick from Kocka lands but Compton takes it in his stride.

Kocka feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Martin Kocka showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Kocka slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Kocka has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Compton can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Compton wants to control from the top but Kocka keeps moving.

Kocka seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Compton is concentrating on defense, preventing Kocka from advancing position.

Kocka is working for a kimura but Compton is defending it quite comfortably.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Well Kocka has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
