Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Adam Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Pardo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pardo has chosen Don't Stop Believing as his entrance music. James Pardo is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Adam Nelson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Pardo!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, George Francis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pardo throws a front kick aimed at Nelson's knee but Nelson avoids it well.

Pardo darts in and clinches Nelson up against the cage.
Nelson tries to pull guard but Pardo holds him up against the cage and eventually Nelson drops back down to his feet.

Pardo goes for a takedown attempt but Nelson pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Pardo wants the takedown. Nelson is fighting it off but Pardo persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Nelson's guard against the cage.

Pardo has gone for a leg lock! Nelson slips out almost immediately though and dives into Pardo's guard.
Nelson stands up over Pardo, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Nelson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pardo keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Pardo tries to roll over but Nelson keeps him under control.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Pardo misses with a jab, cross combination.
Pardo tries to close the distance and clinch up but Nelson swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Nelson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Pardo is looking to control Nelson's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Pardo avoid being mounted?

Nelson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Pardo does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Nelson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Pardo has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Nelson is working away from the top position though.

Nelson jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Pardo is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Pardo and Nelson has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Nelson looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Pardo slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Pardo misses with the combination.
Pardo tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Nelson misses with a body shot.
Pardo lands with a nice combination. Nelson backs away looking to recover.

Pardo rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Nelson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Nelson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Nelson showed some decent athleticism there.

Pardo has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Nelson is working away from the top position though.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Nelson has closed the distance and engaged Pardo in a clinch.

Nelson is looking to sinch up a triangle. Pardo throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Nelson's body to avoid the submission. Nelson has instead reached around Pardo's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Nelson arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
