Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Link Gatez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chen Chong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gatez avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Gatez shoots in and drives through. Chong sprawls well.
Chong just misses with a punch to the body.
A jab lands there for Chong.

It looks like Link Gatez has been cut.
Chong misses with a looping right.
Chong waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Gatez.
A slow jab from Chong misses its intended target.

Gatez clinches up with Chong and pushes him back against the cage.

Chong's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Chong clinches but Gatez breaks the clinch
and Gatez counters with a left and a right that stings Chong.
Chong tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Gatez makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Chong throws a left and a right that both miss

and Gatez counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Chong's guard now.

Gatez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gatez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Gatez is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Gatez won't allow Chong to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gatez drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Chong manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Gatez has Chong in his guard.
Gatez is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Gatez is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Chong has his hands clasped together but Gatez extends an breaks Chong's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Gatez.
