Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lon Pruitt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Haven Baez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lon Pruitt has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lon Pruitt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Haven Baez!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Russell Pearce and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Baez shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Pruitt napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Baez wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Pruitt, who protects the arm well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pruitt is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Baez is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Pruitt knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Pruitt's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Pruitt is breathing heavily.
Baez controlling his opponent.
Pruitt is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Baez lands a nice shot to the head.
Pruitt holds on to Baez around his waist, trying desperately to prevent any attacks.

Baez postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Pruitt looks a forlorn figure.

BOOM! Baez connects with a massive shot to the dome!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Baez takes the fight into the clinch.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Pruitt stuffs the takedown attempt from Baez. Baez gets slowly back to his feet.
Pruitt is looking to counter the offense by Baez and move into the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Baez lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Baez is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Pruitt has managed to free his arm - good work.
Pruitt is refusing to be controlled, as Baez sits in half guard.
Baez has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Pruitt is holding on to half guard well.
Pruitt flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Baez is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Pruitt is staying active underneath Baez, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Baez is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Pruitt doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Baez.

Pruitt wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Pruitt is trying to break free.

Baez has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Pruitt has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Pruitt is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Baez gets his way!

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Haven Baez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Pruitt shoots for a double leg takedown but Baez sprawls well. He's pushed Pruitt's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Baez changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Pruitt stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Baez throws up his legs and catches Pruitt in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Pruitt tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Baez! That came out of nowhere!
