A fine choice. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Michaels throws a sloppy head kick and Big Man moves out of range easily.
Big Man ducks under a wild hook from Michaels.

Michaels has closed the distance and engaged Big Man in a clinch.

Big Man lands an elbow just above Michaels 's eye.
Big Man lands a good knee to the midsection. Michaels won't want to take too many of those.
Big Man is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Big Man lands an elbow inside that Michaels shrugs off.

Michaels on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Big Man prevents a takedown attempt there.
Big Man is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Michaels is defending well for now.
Big Man has Michaels pressed against the cage, preventing Michaels from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Michaels is trying to drag Big Man to the mat but Big Man just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Julius Big Man has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joseph Michaels.

Big Man is fighting off a takedown attempt but Michaels is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Big Man to the mat. Big Man regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Michaels has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Devils Den New York. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
Big Man tries to bench press Michaels off him but Michaels keeps the position.
Michaels cracks Big Man with a big right hand but Big Man just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Michaels thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Michaels has an Americana. Big Man didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Michaels is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Michaels hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
