Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, James Gonzalez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Marios Kaperoinis!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Sosuke Kotani and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gonzalez closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Kaperoinis pulls guard successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gonzalez works over Kaperoinis with some ground and pound from guard.
Kaperoinis looking for a sweep. Not yet Kaperoinis, not yet.
Gonzalez lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Gonzalez is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Gonzalez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gonzalez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gonzalez missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Kaperoinis utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Kaperoinis is trying to control the position but Gonzalez postures up.
Kaperoinis wants to sweep but no luck.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gonzalez throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kaperoinis works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Gonzalez is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Kaperoinis has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Gonzalez has passed into side control.
Gonzalez cracks Kaperoinis with a big right hand but Kaperoinis just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kaperoinis can do anything to dispel that myth.

Gonzalez is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kaperoinis is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Gonzalez working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Kaperoinis tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Gonzalez wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Gonzalez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Gonzalez has an Americana. Kaperoinis didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Gonzalez is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Gonzalez hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). James Gonzalez!
