Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Christopher Binse (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pelle Paniikki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paniikki is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: N'sync - Bye Bye Bye. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Christopher Binse!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 32 - 38 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pelle Paniikki!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Phil Schofield and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Binse slaps away a takedown attempt from Paniikki, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Paniikki misses with a takedown
and Binse counters with a left to the body.
Pelle Paniikki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Paniikki shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Binse counters with a stiff right hand.
Christopher Binse has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pelle Paniikki.
Nice takedown defense from Binse. No joy for Paniikki on that attempt.
Nice sprawl there from Binse as Paniikki shoots in.

and Binse counters with a body kick that stops Paniikki in his tracks momentarily.

Paniikki changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Paniikki jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Binse walks away with a smile on his face. Paniikki gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Paniikki shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Binse defends it nicely.

Binse has Paniikki up against the cage in a clinch.
Binse lands a shoulder strike.
Binse pushes Paniikki back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Binse misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Paniikki is trying to pull guard but Binse has him pressed against the cage.

Paniikki successfully pulls guard.
Binse content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Paniikki working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Binse doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Binse manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Binse controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Binse throwing strikes but missing.
Binse postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Paniikki looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Binse passes into side control.
Paniikki takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Binse tries to advance to mount but can't.
Paniikki tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Binse wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Binse advances to mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Paniikki bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Binse is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Paniikki trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Binse has Paniikki pulled in close to control his posture.
Binse has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Paniikki stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Binse swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Binse is pulling down on Paniikki's head. It's preventing any offense from Paniikki, at least for the moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Binse looking to hit a scissor sweep but Paniikki is one step ahead there.
Binse keeping full guard, as Paniikki tries to pass.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Binse has Paniikki pulled in close to control his posture.

Paniikki postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Binse is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Paniikki, into his guard.


Paniikki looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Binse has picked Paniikki up and slammed him! Paniikki can't keep hold of the triangle and Binse manages to pass to side control!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Christopher Binse dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Paniikki throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Binse's waist but Binse gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Paniikki off to one side.
Binse went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Paniikki on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Paniikki shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Paniikki circles away from the clinch attempt.
Paniikki has his takedown stuffed
and Binse counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Christopher Binse has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pelle Paniikki.
Paniikki will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Binse appears to be looking for a big counter.
Paniikki changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Binse tries to avoid it but Paniikki manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Binse to the ground. Binse escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Paniikki fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Paniikki shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Binse but Binse pushes him off and we're back to square one.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Binse counters with a head kick. That will keep Paniikki thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Binse displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Paniikki throws out the jab.

Binse works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
I was talking to Binse's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Paniikki is breathing heavily.
Binse lands a right hand that snaps the head of Paniikki backwards.
Binse scores with a shot to the side of Paniikki's head.


Paniikki is rocked!

Paniikki is still on wobbly legs! Can Binse finish him?
Binse cracks Paniikki with a nice body shot.
A body shot lands from Binse.
Binse scores with a shoulder strike.
Binse unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Paniikki! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Binse is unloading with more strikes now! Paniikki drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Christopher Binse!
