PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chrys Kyle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shaun Reeves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shaun Reeves told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chrys Kyle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shaun Reeves!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Fedor Mirinova and Konstantin Menshow.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reeves works Kyle's body with a nice hook.
Kyle slips under a jab.
Reeves slips under a jab from Kyle.
Reeves throws a body shot but no joy.
A counter left hand to the body from Kyle misses its target.
Reeves throws a good cross that connects.
Reeves connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
The fight stays on the outside here - Reeves looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Kyle lands a jab to Reeves's midsection.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reeves throws a shot from downtown. Kyle moves away and avoids it.
Kyle appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Reeves looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Donk. Reeves catches Kyle right on the button with a cross.
Reeves moves into range and connects with a jab.
We've been told by Kyle's head coaches at Thunder MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Reeves throws a looping overhand right but Kyle ducks down to avoid it.

Reeves tries to bum rush Kyle with a series of wild strikes but Kyle uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Reeves fails in his attempt to clinch.
Reeves looks to score with a jab to the body but Kyle is just out of range.
Kyle just misses with a punch to the body.
Reeves is looking for the big counter here.
Reeves works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Reeves throws a jab when Kyle was well out of range.
Kyle swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Kyle throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Reeves has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Reeves displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Kyle throws out the jab.
Reeves takes a swing at Kyle's ribcage but misses.
Kyle appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.

Reeves takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Reeves clinches up against the ropes.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Kyle.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Reeves keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Kyle's efforts to push away.
Kyle has Reeves pushed against the ropes.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Reeves lands a shot to the body.
Reeves lands an uppercut.
Kyle wants to break free but Reeves has control.
Kyle misses with the head strike.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Reeves misses with a short punch on the inside.

Kyle's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Reeves swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Reeves uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Kyle.
Reeves moves forwards but Kyle connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Kyle scores with a decent looking hook.

Reeves is rocked!
Kyle throws a head kick but Reeves moves out of range.
Reeves is still on wobbly legs! Can Kyle finish him?
Reeves throws a body shot but no joy.
An attempted straight right counter from Kyle misses the target.
Kyle cracks Reeves with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Reeves tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Kyle pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Reeves is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Chrys Kyle!
An out of breath Chrys Kyle thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
