PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Esteban Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Harbor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Scott comes to the cage accompanied by Scotty Doesn't Know. Esteban Scott could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to James Harbor's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Esteban Scott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 25 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Harbor!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scott throws a lazy uppercut
and Harbor counters with a straight right hand.
We've been informed that Harbor has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Scott throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Scott tries to close the distance and clinch up but Harbor swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Nice defenses there by Harbor.
Scott looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Harbor lands a nice hook to Scott's body. Scott takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Scott moves out of range of the strikes.
Scott throwing a counter right hand but Harbor manages to avoid it.
Harbor shoots for a double leg takedown but Scott sprawls well. He's pushed Harbor's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Harbor drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Scott defends it well.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Scott parries the strikes from Harbor easily there. Harbor is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Scott to escape.

Harbor is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Harbor is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Harbor throws a strike aimed at the side of Scott's head but Scott avoids it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Harbor moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Harbor tries to move to mount but Scott blocks the move with his legs.
Harbor throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Harbor showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Scott has his foot on Harbor's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Harbor works his way back into a safe position though.
Harbor connects with a couple of short punches.

Harbor got a little sloppy there for a moment and Scott has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Harbor has managed to get both his arms back between Scott's legs - danger averted.

Harbor is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Harbor seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Scott does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Scott is looking for a sweep. Harbor is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Scott works his way to full guard. Good work.

James Harbor dominated that round.

Harbor cracks Scott with a good jab.
Scott throws a wild body kick that Harbor sees coming a mile off.
And Harbor tries to counter it with a takedown but Scott pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Scott misses with a straight right.
Scott has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
Harbor takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Harbor with the counter takedown but Scott avoids it easily.
Scott walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Harbor swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Harbor lands a right hook to the body.
Scott avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Scott lands a nice looking kick to the body. Harbor takes a step back to recover.
Esteban Scott seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Harbor just misses with a punch to the body.
Harbor throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Harbor digs a good hook to Scott's body.
Scott throws a body shot but no joy.
Harbor is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Scott scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Harbor shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Scott napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Scott is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Harbor off and has taken his back!
Scott is looking to finish with some ground and pound!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Scott manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Harbor manages to get himself to full guard.

Scott keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Harbor's head.

Harbor is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Scott frees his head nicely. Oh but Harbor has switched to an armbar! Scott is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
