PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between IceIce Baby (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aghavni Anahit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Anahit's choice of entrance music: 2 steps from hell. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anahit lands a head shot.
Anahit misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Baby looking to score a takedown here. Anahit is defending well but Baby drives through and ends up in Anahit's guard.

Anahit wriggles free and stands up.

Anahit cracks Baby with an uppercut from hell and Baby crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Anahit's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Anahit pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Baby is keeping the position for now.

Baby is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Anahit is controlling him.

Anahit postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Baby is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Anahit, into his guard.

Baby looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Baby wanted to stand there but Anahit had control of the position.

Anahit working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Baby doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Baby manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Baby distracts Anahit with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Anahit is looking for a triangle but Baby pushes his legs off easily.
Baby knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Anahit on the ground.
Baby slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Anahit is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Anahit can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Baby controls the pace.

Anahit escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Baby gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Baby decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Anahit darts in and clinches Baby up against the cage.

Baby's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Baby shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Baby cracks the inside of Anahit's front leg.
Anahit throws a right and a left that both miss.
Baby avoids a punch combination nicely.

Baby shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Baby is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Baby seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
It looks like Baby is going to stand back up.

Anahit is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Baby defends well.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Baby shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Anahit's guard.

Anahit kicks Baby off and gets to his feet.

Baby closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Baby lands in his opponent's guard.

Anahit is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Baby defends well.

Baby got a little sloppy there for a moment and Anahit has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Baby has managed to get both his arms back between Anahit's legs - danger averted.

In his post fight interview, Aghavni Anahit started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
