Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ryan Mason!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jon Alvario!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, John Mangel and Chris Dean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Alvario darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Alvario controlling the pace.
Alvario working over Mason with some ground and pound. Mason looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Alvario has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Alvario is taking a breather. Mason says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Alvario winds up and cracks Mason with a swinging punch to the side of the head.


It looks like Ryan Mason has been cut.

Alvario prevents Mason from improving his position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Alvario lands a nice short elbow.
Mason tries to kick Alvario off but Alvario keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Alvario is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mason on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Alvario scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Alvario drops an elbow to the side of Mason's head.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Alvario connects with a nice short shot to Mason's temple.


Mason is rocked!
Alvario lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Oh Mason is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!


Ryan Mason's cut is getting worse.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Alvario in particular looking to stall.
Alvario seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.


Ryan Mason's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Alvario controlling the position here and throwing strikes from the top. Nice elbow lands there... and another... and another... oh, Mason is out! Alvario gets to his feet and admires his work - nice finish!
