PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Vince Moses (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kasey Barr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Barr has chosen Barroom Hero as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Kasey Barr will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vince Moses!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kasey Barr!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Jonathan Paton and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Barr looking to score a takedown here. Moses is defending well but Barr drives through and ends up in Moses's guard.

Barr is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Moses is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Moses has escaped and now he's on top!

Moses loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Barr looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Moses scoring with some ground and pound.
Moses trying to control the position from guard on top but Barr is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Moses might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Moses slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Barr is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Barr tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Moses throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Barr works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Barr dips to his left and cracks Moses with an uppercut!
Barr lunges at Moses with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Moses's hand.

Barr clinches up with Moses and pushes him back against the cage.
Moses tries to break free but Barr pushes him back against the cage.

Moses is trying to break the clinch but Barr has him pressed against the cage.

Moses breaks from the clinch.

Barr prevents Moses from breaking the clinch.
Moses tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Barr smiles and moves away.

Barr slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Barr postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Barr sitting in guard, not really doing much.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Moses is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Barr really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Moses. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Barr slips nicely into half guard.
Moses trying to hold on to Barr's head to control him but Barr postures up.
Barr is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Barr slips a nice elbow through Moses's hands, connecting with Moses's forehead.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Moses has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Barr is working away from the top position though.
Barr winds up and cracks Moses with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Barr darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Barr is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Moses is looking to control Barr's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Moses avoid being mounted?
Barr has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Barr perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Barr is continuing to stall.
Barr wants to pass to mount but Moses is defending the position.

Barr tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Barr has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Moses's face.
Barr sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Moses flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.

Moses wants to try and get back to his feet.
Moses is in a horrible position here. Barr smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Barr lands a big shot there that rocks Moses but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

The adventures of Barr the control monster continue. Boring.

Kasey Barr has got the better of the ground game so far.
Barr lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Moses looking for submissions off his back.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Barr with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Moses is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Barr scores with a couple of nice shots.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Barr lands a nice short elbow.
Moses on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Barr scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Moses thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Barr must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Barr decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Kasey Barr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Barr pushes Moses up against the cage in a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Barr's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Barr throws a right and a left that Moses avoids nicely.

Barr takes the fight into the clinch.

Barr breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Barr shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Moses napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Moses can't do much from the bottom here.

Barr cracks Moses with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Moses tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Barr wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Moses throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
Moses sneaks back into half guard.
Barr trying to control the pace.
Moses on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Kasey Barr is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Barr connects with the punch.

Barr clinches.

Moses is looking to break free of the clinch but Barr has double underhooks.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Vince Moses has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Barr has Moses pressed against the cage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kasey Barr comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Barr has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
