Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Blair Oneill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Mcgrath (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James Mcgrath has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Blair Oneill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, James Mcgrath!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcgrath dives in and grabs Oneill's left leg, looking for a takedown. Oneill pushes down on Mcgrath's head and hops out.
Mcgrath looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Oneill shoots in and bounces Mcgrath off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Mcgrath can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Oneill controls the pace.
Oneill chips away with some ground and pound.

Oneill stands up from Mcgrath's guard - Oneill perhaps looking for a knockout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Oneill drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Oneill has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Oneill looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mcgrath with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Oneill is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mcgrath defends it well.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Mcgrath is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Oneill scores with a couple of nice shots.

Mcgrath is wriggling around but Oneill manages to pass to half guard.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Oneill connects with a nice short shot to Mcgrath's temple.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mcgrath is breathing heavily.

Oneill's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Oneill in particular looking to stall.
Mcgrath is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Oneill scores with a couple of nice shots.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Oneill lands a nice short elbow.
Blair Oneill overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Oneill looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Oneill is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Mcgrath can do to turn this around?
Well, if Oneill is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Oneill working over Mcgrath with some ground and pound. Mcgrath looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Oneill is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Oneill content to control rather than advance.
Mcgrath felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Oneill lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Mcgrath down.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Oneill will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Oneill looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Mcgrath pushes Oneill off but Oneill dives into side control.

Oneill in side control, just content to control the action for now.

Oneill wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Mcgrath, who protects the arm well.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Oneill has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Oneill is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mcgrath knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Mcgrath is looking for a sweep.

Well Oneill has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
