PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Danilo Leblanc (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alper Kalin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Danilo Leblanc!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Alper Kalin!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Paul Tew and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kalin shoots in and bounces Leblanc off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Leblanc might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Kalin throwing strikes but missing.
Leblanc not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Kalin scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Leblanc seems keen to control Kalin's posture.
Leblanc's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kalin is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Kalin is stalling in the full guard.
Leblanc lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Leblanc is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kalin can do anything to dispel that myth.

Kalin avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Leblanc.
Kalin is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Leblanc not doing much here.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Kalin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Leblanc is working away from the top position though.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Leblanc shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Kalin eats them both and turns towards Leblanc to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Kalin clinches up against the cage.
Leblanc can't break the clinch.
Kalin dodges an elbow strike from Leblanc.
Leblanc managing to block the knees to the body from Kalin.

Leblanc's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Leblanc misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Left hook, right uppercut from Leblanc.
Kalin throws a sloppy head kick and Leblanc moves out of range easily.

Kalin throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Leblanc was covering up waiting for the punch and Kalin finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Leblanc looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kalin is one step ahead there.

Kalin tries a head kick but it misses.

Leblanc gets caught napping as Kalin dives in and scores a takedown. Leblanc manages to retain guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Leblanc holds on and takes a little breather.
Kalin is looking to work some ground and pound but Leblanc has wrist control.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Leblanc throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Leblanc shoots in for a takedown but Kalin shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Leblanc takes a swing at Kalin's ribcage but misses.

Kalin shoots in and gets a takedown into Leblanc's guard.
Kalin is breathing heavily.
Kalin is stalling in the full guard.
Kalin preventing the sweep.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kalin is looking to advance position but Leblanc has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Leblanc wants to control the action but instead Kalin gets a body lock and reverses into Leblanc's guard! Nice work!

Leblanc is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Leblanc is trying to keep Kalin in close.

Leblanc bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kalin's guard.

Kalin controls Leblanc momentarily but Leblanc frees himself.
Leblanc is stalling in the full guard.
Leblanc seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kalin for as long as he can get away with.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kalin is trying to control the position but Leblanc postures up.
Kalin wants to stand up but Leblanc is controlling him.

Leblanc is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Alper Kalin will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Leblanc lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kalin circles away quickly and effectively.

Kalin fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Leblanc to the ground. Kalin is now in Leblanc's guard.
Leblanc wants to sweep but no luck.

Leblanc shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kalin defends it nicely.
Kalin tries to clinch up but Leblanc circles away and keeps his distance.

Leblanc is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Leblanc not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Danilo Leblanc.
I think Leblanc has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
