PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Louis Puckett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Wilson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jon Wilson will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Louis Puckett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jon Wilson!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Arvi Lind and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wilson clinches up against the cage.
Wilson drops down looking for an ankle pick but Puckett pulls his leg out and moves away.

Wilson drives through with a takedown into Puckett's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wilson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Puckett swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Puckett knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wilson on the ground.
Wilson is fighting to break Puckett's control of his arms but Puckett is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Puckett is pulling down on Wilson's head. It's preventing any offense from Wilson, at least for the moment.
Wilson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Puckett is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Wilson is trying to control but can't.
Wilson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Puckett's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Puckett's back!

Puckett is trying to get back to his feet. He's worked up on to his knees and now he's on his feet with his head on the canvas, trying to shake Wilson off. It looks like it's working - Wilson slides off, much to his dismay, and we're back to standing! Puckett displaying calm under pressure there.

Puckett throws a big counter combination but Wilson scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Louis Puckett has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jon Wilson.
Wilson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Puckett tries to avoid it but Wilson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Puckett to the ground. Puckett escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Puckett counters with a three punch combo that has Wilson backing up. Wilson nods at Puckett to acknowledge the strikes.
Wilson throws a series of punches but Puckett avoids them all with ease.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Wilson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Puckett was covering up waiting for the punch and Wilson finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Puckett feints and as Wilson raises his hands in defense, Puckett changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Wilson pushes Puckett off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

This has been an exciting period of action!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

That was a close second round but I would say that Louis Puckett will probably get the nod.
