PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Del Kent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Reborn Again (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Del Kent!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Reborn Again!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Reed Andrews and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Again misses with a jab, cross combination.

Again gets caught flat footed, as Kent shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Again is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Kent preventing the sweep.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Again holds on and takes a little breather.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Again can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Again looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Kent trying to control the position from guard on top but Again is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Kent wants to get up but he can't break Again's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Kent really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Again looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Kent moves into the clinch.

Again is trying to trip Kent. He has hold of a leg but Kent is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Again persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Again slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Kent trying to control the position.

Again drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Kent manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Again has Kent in his guard.

Again controlling Kent's posture.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kent throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Kent makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Again is looking for a triangle but Kent pushes his legs off easily.
Again is adopting a defensive guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Again trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Kent stopping the sweep attempt from Again.
Again has Kent pulled in close to control his posture.

Again working for a triangle but Kent defends it easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Again throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Del Kent will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Kent gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Again wants to control from the top but Kent keeps moving.
Again slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
My spies in The Factory inform me that Again has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Kent keeping moving, preventing Again from controlling successfully.

Again drops back looking for a leg! Kent is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kent manages to kick Again off! Again jumps back into Kent's guard.

Again throws an elbow that misses. Kent uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Again's guard. Nice move by Kent!


Again escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kent gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Again has his hands on Kent's head, controlling the position.
Again's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Kent wants to control from the top but Again keeps moving.
Again tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Again pulls Kent in close to prevent any damage.
Again thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Kent clinches up with Again and pushes him back against the cage.

Kent has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Again clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Again is trying to break free.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
I would not like to be Again right now.
Again turns into Kent and is now in his guard.
Again sitting in guard here, content to control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Again wants to control from the top but Kent keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Del Kent dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Kent gets caught napping as Again dives in and scores a takedown. Kent manages to retain guard.
Kent avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Kent can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Again controls the pace.

Kent had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Again defends it easily.
Again throws an elbow that misses. Kent uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Again's guard. Nice move by Kent!

Again is pulling down on Kent's head. It's preventing any offense from Kent, at least for the moment.
Kent throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Again works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Again is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Kent trying to control but Again is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Again throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Kent escapes and throws Again's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Again holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.
Again trying to control but Kent flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Again really must keep his cool here. He's controlling one of Kent's hands and whilst he does that, he's got a chance of escaping the position.
Kent trying to control momentarily.
Again breaks Kent's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Again stands and throws Kent's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The ground and pound from Again seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Again just content to control the position.
Kent throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Kent is not content to let Again control the position.

Again wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kent, who protects the arm well.
Again slows the pace down.
Reborn Again has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Del Kent is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Again tries to score with some ground and pound. Kent controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Reborn Again comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Kent has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
