Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ivan Watson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ragnar Darlsson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ivan Watson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ragnar Darlsson!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Topper Green and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Darlsson shoots and misses
and Watson counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Watson leaves Darlsson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Darlsson instigates a clinch.

Watson manages to pull guard.
Darlsson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Darlsson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
It looks like Darlsson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Watson wants to sweep but no luck.
Darlsson wants to pass the guard but Watson is keeping the position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Watson is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Darlsson's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Darlsson lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Darlsson is stalling here. Watson is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Darlsson seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Watson has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Darlsson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Watson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
You can see the frustration on Darlsson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Darlsson is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Watson is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Darlsson wants to control but Watson is having none of it.

Watson stands up from mount. Strange move.

Darlsson pushes Watson up against the cage in a clinch.
Watson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Watson has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Darlsson uses from the top position.
Darlsson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Darlsson wants to pass the guard but Watson is keeping the position.

Watson wants to stand and escape but Darlsson is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's time! Watson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and Watson counters with a left to the body.

and Watson counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Watson misses with a takedown attempt - Darlsson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Darlsson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Watson backs up against the cage.


It looks like Ivan Watson has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ivan Watson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Darlsson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Watson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Watson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Watson seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

A close second round but Ragnar Darlsson will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Darlsson shoots in and drives through. Watson sprawls well.

Ragnar Darlsson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Darlsson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Watson pinned against the cage. Watson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Darlsson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Darlsson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Watson using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Darlsson has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Watson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Darlsson manages to get himself to full guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Darlsson is on top in guard.

Watson wants to get back to his feet but Darlsson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Watson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Darlsson is proving hard to escape from.
Darlsson throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Darlsson looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
