Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Clifton Navarro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Embamba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Clifton Navarro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Embamba!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Robert Twigg and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Embamba moves into the clinch successfully.

Embamba pulls guard successfully.
Embamba looking to hit a scissor sweep but Navarro is one step ahead there.
Navarro missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Navarro postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Navarro is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Embamba wants to sweep here but Navarro controlling him for the moment.

Embamba is trying to control the position but Navarro postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Navarro accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Embamba looking for a guillotine here but Navarro defends easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Navarro postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Embamba tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Embamba has his foot on Navarro's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Navarro works his way back into a safe position though.
Navarro stands up over Embamba, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Embamba thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Embamba controls Navarro momentarily but Navarro frees himself.

Embamba is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Navarro defends well.

Navarro makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Navarro has gone for a leg lock! Embamba slips out almost immediately though and dives into Navarro's guard.

Navarro has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Embamba off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Navarro has Embamba up against the cage in a clinch.

Navarro manages to break the clinch.

Embamba throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Navarro was covering up waiting for the punch and Embamba finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Embamba tries to free his leg and advance position but Navarro is retaining full guard.

Navarro seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Navarro bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Embamba's guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Navarro is in close to Embamba's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Embamba keeping moving, preventing Navarro from controlling successfully.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Navarro accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Embamba tries to keep at a distance but Navarro has taken the fight into the clinch.
Embamba has Navarro pressed against the cage, preventing Navarro from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Embamba keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Navarro's efforts to push away.
Navarro wants to break free but Embamba has control.

Embamba pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Embamba.

Embamba thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Embamba is looking to take a break and control but Navarro is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Embamba is breathing heavily.
Embamba working the ground and pound but Navarro is defending the strikes.

Embamba is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Navarro is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Navarro can't do much from the bottom here.
Clifton Navarro overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Embamba wants to control but Navarro is keeping him busy.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Navarro manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Navarro really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Navarro tries to get to full guard but Embamba has control of the leg.
Embamba wants to lay and pray for a moment but Navarro keeps working.

Embamba looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Embamba forces Navarro back against the cage and clinches.
Navarro is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Embamba is looking to control Navarro's arms but Navarro gets an underhook and turns him. Now Embamba has his back to the cage.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Navarro makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Navarro keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Embamba's head.
Navarro is working Embamba over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

A close second round but James Embamba will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Navarro closes the distance and clinches.
Navarro is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Embamba is defending well for now.

Embamba manages to break the clinch.

Embamba changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Navarro looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Navarro tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Embamba has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Embamba throws a right hand that Navarro ducks under and follows up with a left that Navarro also avoids with ease.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Navarro tries to score a power double leg takedown but Embamba sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Navarro somewhat.
Embamba takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Navarro closes the distance and pushes Embamba back into the cage.
Navarro is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Navarro seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.

Embamba has Navarro pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Embamba pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Navarro tumbling to the mat - Embamba dives into Navarro's guard.

Embamba is looking to stand up but Navarro won't let him.

Navarro pushes Embamba off and scrambles back to his feet.
Embamba stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Embamba wants it to stay on the feet.

Embamba closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Navarro wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Navarro putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Embamba in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.

Embamba's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Navarro gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Embamba to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Navarro is pulling down on Embamba's head. It's preventing any offense from Embamba, at least for the moment.
Navarro is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Navarro has control of Embamba's left arm, preventing Embamba from doing any damage.
Embamba trying to control the position from guard on top but Navarro is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Embamba displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Navarro.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Clifton Navarro. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Embamba rushes Navarro and presses him up against the cage.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to James Embamba.
I think Embamba has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
