Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Maple Heartoway (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shelton Petersen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Heartoway comes to the cage accompanied by Canadian Idiot by Wierd Al. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Heartoway throws a head kick that misses.
A head kick by Heartoway misses
and Petersen counters with a straight right hand.

Heartoway closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Petersen's guard.

Petersen has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Heartoway off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Heartoway is breathing heavily.
Petersen fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
A good leg kick by Petersen.
Heartoway pulls out of a head kick attempt.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A swing and a miss from Heartoway.
A nice side step and Petersen releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

and Petersen counters with a three punch combo that has Heartoway backing up. Heartoway nods at Petersen to acknowledge the strikes.

Petersen gets caught flat footed, as Heartoway shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Petersen pushes Heartoway off and gets back to his feet.

A clash of legs there as Heartoway blocks the low kick.
Heartoway throws a head kick that misses.
Heartoway takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Petersen tries to clinch there but Heartoway circles away.
Petersen lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Heartoway backs up against the cage.
Heartoway dodges the punch combination from Petersen.
Petersen cracks Heartoway with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Heartoway pulls out of a head kick attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Petersen tries to close the distance and clinch but Heartoway swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Petersen shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Heartoway's guard.

Heartoway is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Petersen is controlling him.
Petersen postures up and lands a big shot to Heartoway's brow.
Petersen prevents Heartoway from getting back to his feet.
Petersen loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Heartoway knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Petersen on the ground.

Petersen stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Petersen tries to score a power double leg takedown but Heartoway sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Petersen somewhat.

Petersen feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Heartoway's calf.
Heartoway throws a sloppy head kick
and Petersen counters with a straight right hand.
Heartoway tries a head kick but it misses.
Heartoway seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Petersen shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Heartoway manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Heartoway is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Petersen dives into side control.

Petersen has an Americana. Heartoway didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Petersen is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Petersen hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
