Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Cedric Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron McGinnis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aaron McGinnis!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Alan Glass and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Johnson pushes McGinnis up against the cage in a clinch.

McGinnis breaks from the clinch.
McGinnis throws a right and a left that both miss.
Johnson takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
McGinnis cracks Johnson with a right hand to the side of the head.
Johnson fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Johnson throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Johnson misses with a looping left.
A countering left hand to the body from McGinnis misses.

Johnson moves into the clinch.

McGinnis's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Johnson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Johnson controlling from the top position.
Johnson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down McGinnis for as long as he can get away with.

McGinnis trying to keep a closed guard but Johnson is proving a slippery customer.
Johnson stays in close to McGinnis's body and controls the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Johnson scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Johnson gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Johnson misses with a series of wild punches.
Johnson walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
McGinnis lands with an overhand left.
Aaron McGinnis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Johnson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from McGinnis! But no joy.
Johnson closes this distance looking for a takedown but McGinnis circles away.
McGinnis scores with a body shot.
Johnson fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Johnson with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling McGinnis to score with a decent uppercut.
Johnson shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. McGinnis eats them both and turns towards Johnson to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
A lazy left from McGinnis finds it's target.
Horrible takedown attempt by Johnson or perhaps it was just good defense by McGinnis, which made it look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cedric Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McGinnis misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
The crowd cheers as McGinnis lands an impressive looking overhand right. Johnson doesn't seem phased though.
McGinnis avoids a punch combination nicely.
Johnson throws a right hand that McGinnis ducks under and follows up with a left that McGinnis also avoids with ease.

McGinnis scores with a jab to the body.
McGinnis is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Johnson had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Johnson throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Aaron McGinnis is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Johnson walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
McGinnis throws a right hand that Johnson ducks under and follows up with a left that Johnson also avoids with ease.

Johnson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. McGinnis was covering up waiting for the punch and Johnson finishes the takedown easily into guard.
McGinnis looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Johnson puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
McGinnis won't allow Johnson to pass to mount.

Johnson decides to stand and escape the position.
McGinnis fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Cedric Johnson will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Johnson gets control of McGinnis's arms and successfully pulls guard. Johnson will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Johnson is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Johnson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Johnson is pulling down on McGinnis's head. It's preventing any offense from McGinnis, at least for the moment.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
McGinnis looking to sit in guard and control but Johnson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Johnson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Johnson is pushing down on McGinnis's leg trying to pass to half guard. McGinnis is fighting to maintain full guard but Johnson has managed to sneak the leg through.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Johnson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Johnson looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
McGinnis connects with a body shot that sends Johnson's belly button to the back.

McGinnis scores with a hook to the body. Johnson takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Johnson drops his hands momentarily and McGinnis takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

I would just about give that final round to Aaron McGinnis.
I think McGinnis has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
