The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miller throws a right and a left that Newcombe avoids nicely.
Newcombe attempts a counter takedown but Miller avoids it well and moves away.
Newcombe closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Newcombe remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

We've been hearing good reports from Newcombe's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

and Newcombe counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Newcombe sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Miller's guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Anton Newcombe.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Newcombe, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
