Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Tom Hess (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karom Tomson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tom Hess!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Karom Tomson!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Richard Clark and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tomson tries to clinch but Hess is having none of it.
Hess half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Hess ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
A nice inside leg kick there by Tomson. That's going to slow Hess down.
Hess looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Hess wants to land a leg kick but Tomson is out of range.
Tomson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hess misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Tomson has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Tomson bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Hess throws a head kick that misses.
Tomson wants to counter the offense by Hess and move into the clinch position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tomson throws a leg kick but Hess checks it.
Hess attempts a counter takedown but Tomson avoids it well and moves away.

Hess throws a head kick that misses.
Tomson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hess was well out of range. Poor timing from Tomson.
Hess attempts a counter takedown but Tomson avoids it well and moves away.
Karom Tomson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hess fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Tomson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Tomson misses with a low kick.
Tomson explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Hess closes the distance and clinches up with Tomson, looking for a takedown. Hess pushes Tomson against the cage but Tomson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Tomson appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
Hess tries to bum rush Tomson with a series of wild strikes but Tomson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Tomson scores with a head kick. Hess tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

A chopping leg kick lands by Tomson.
Tomson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hess feinted with a counter takedown.
Tomson looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Hess tries to counter with a takedown but Tomson is quick to defend against it.
Hess steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Tomson.
Hess moves out of range of the leg kick from Tomson.
Hess dives in for a single leg takedown but Tomson sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tom Hess. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hess circles away from the clinch attempt.
Hess shoots for a takedown but Tomson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Tomson misses with a looping left.
Hess throws a nice looking combination but Tomson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Tomson is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Tomson tries a head kick but it misses.
Tomson throws out a loose jab but Hess uses good head movement to avoid it.
Hess tries for a takedown but Tomson circles away easily
and Tomson counters with a nice leg kick.
Hess shoots in looking for a takedown. Tomson tries to sprawl out of it but Hess keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Tomson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Hess fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Tom Hess seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hess takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Hess with a poor takedown
and Tomson counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Hess shoots and misses
enabling Tomson to counter with a crisp jab.
Hess shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Tomson defends it nicely.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hess shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Karom Tomson dominated that round.
That's time! Hess's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Tomson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hess, pushing him back against the cage.
Tomson with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Hess tries to pull guard but Tomson holds him up against the cage and eventually Hess drops back down to his feet.
Tomson lands a right hand that snaps the head of Hess backwards.

Hess jumps guard and drags Tomson to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Hess has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tomson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Hess throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Tomson escapes and throws Hess's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Hess tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Tomson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Hess is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Tomson is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Hess tries to hold on but Tomson pushes him away.
Hess tries to reverse the position but Tomson maintains control.
Hess might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Hess is working hard here to advance position.

Hess looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Hess is in bad spot here.
Hess manages to reverse the position and now he's in Tomson's guard. Nice work there by Hess.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hess trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Tomson has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tomson can do anything to dispel that myth.
Tomson is trying to control the position but Hess postures up.

Hess pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Tomson is keeping the position for now.
Tomson has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Hess trying to control the position from guard on top but Tomson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Tomson is pulling down on Hess's head to control his posture.

Hess drops back looking for a leg! Tomson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Tomson manages to kick Hess off! Hess jumps back into Tomson's guard.

Hess drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hess jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Hess wants to control from the top but Tomson keeps moving.

Hess thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Hess stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tomson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Hess fails with a takedown attempt.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hess swings widly with a right hand
and Tomson counters with a nice uppercut.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Karom Tomson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Hess thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Tomson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hess. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hess drops back looking for a leg! Tomson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Tomson manages to kick Hess off! Hess jumps back into Tomson's guard.
Tomson is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hess slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Tomson is trying to control Hess's posture but Hess avoids it.

Hess has an Americana. Tomson didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Hess is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Hess hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
