PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Miguel Cotto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julius Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson has chosen Van Halen - Why Cant This Be Love as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Julius Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Atkins and Colin Fotheringham.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cotto scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Cotto pushes Jackson away with a front kick.
Cotto is looking to slow Jackson down with leg kicks.
Cotto slips under a jab.
Jackson closes the distance but Cotto moves to the side
and Cotto counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Cotto ducks under a wild hook from Jackson.

Jackson darts in and clinches Cotto up against the cage.
Cotto has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Jackson has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Jackson pushes off an throws an elbow but Cotto leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

In his post fight interview, Miguel Cotto started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
