PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Don Domino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Franco Guerro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Franco Guerro looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Don Domino!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Franco Guerro!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Steve Montenegro and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Domino is looking to clinch but Guerro is avoiding it.
Domino with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Domino tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Guerro swivels and escapes.
Domino lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Guerro closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Domino is looking to improve his position.
Guerro with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Domino is trying to stand back up but Guerro is controlling him

Domino is looking to escape.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Guerro working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Domino is trying to control but can't.

Domino wants to get back to his feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Domino misses with an uppercut
and Guerro counters with a nice body kick.
Domino will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Domino is breathing heavily.
Domino fails to land with a series of punches.

Guerro fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Domino to the ground. Guerro is now in Domino's guard.
Guerro controls from within his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like Guerro might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Domino wants to get back to his feet but Guerro is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Guerro slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Guerro shoots for a takedown but Domino saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
No joy there for Domino, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Guerro closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Domino did well to prevent Guerro getting side control.
Domino makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Domino.
Guerro wants to control from the top but Domino keeps moving.
Guerro might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Domino haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Domino has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Guerro has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Domino decides to pull guard.
Guerro controlling from the top position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Domino is on top in guard.

Domino wants to control from the top but Guerro keeps moving.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Domino's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Guerro is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Guerro wants to stand up but Domino is controlling him.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Guerro can do anything to dispel that myth.

Domino stands up from Guerro's guard - Domino perhaps looking for a knockout.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Guerro is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Domino.
Domino fails with a takedown attempt.
Domino closes this distance looking for a takedown but Guerro circles away.
Domino swinging wildly here.
Domino doesn't manage to clinch there - Guerro circles away.
Guerro misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Domino throws a nice outside leg kick.
Domino stalks Guerro and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Guerro's face. Guerro staggers backwards, shaken.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Domino throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Domino tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Guerro darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Domino is looking to escape.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Guerro wants to control but Domino is keeping him busy.
Domino is trying to stand back up but Guerro is controlling him

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Good leg kick by Domino there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Domino pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Guerro back to the cage. Domino follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Guerro dives in and grabs Domino's left leg, looking for a takedown. Domino pushes down on Guerro's head and hops out.
Guerro goes for a double leg but Domino avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Domino continues to drive forward.
Don Domino has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Franco Guerro.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Domino fails with a takedown attempt.
Guerro unleashes a big counter combination but Domino bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Domino.
Guerro fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Domino lands a high kick!
Domino shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Guerro as he jumps to the side.
Don Domino is winning the standup battle so far.
A combination from Domino does no damage.
Don Domino seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Guerro tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Domino defends well and Guerro ends up having to push Domino into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Domino lands a two punch combo.
Domino fails with an attempt to clinch.
Domino tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Guerro paws at him with a jab and circles away.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Guerro tries to score a body lock takedown but Domino shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Guerro is taking a breather. Domino says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Domino will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Domino lands a jab-cross combination.
Sloppy strikes from Domino. Those never looked like landing.
Guerro shoots in looking for a takedown. Domino tries to sprawl out of it but Guerro keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Domino manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Domino looks to land a combination but Guerro avoids it well.

Domino kicks Guerro off and gets to his feet.
Domino fails to land with a series of punches.
Domino feints a jab promting Guerro to slip. Domino then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Guerro slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Domino shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Guerro swats away the attempt to clinch by Domino.
Guerro appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.

Guerro looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Domino!

Domino bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Guerro shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Domino napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Domino struggling a bit here.
The referee asks Guerro politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Guerro prefers to stall for the moment though.
Domino can't do much from the bottom here.
Guerro takes a little break here. Domino wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Domino is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Don Domino showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Domino, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Don Domino was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
