PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roger Does (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ned Bigsbee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Does comes to the cage accompanied by I,Godless-A Night In Texas. The crowd seem to be enjoying Bigsbee's choice of entrance music: Gin & Juice. On his way into the cage it seems that Roger Does has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Roger Does seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Roger Does!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ned Bigsbee!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Chris Dean and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Does.
Bigsbee wants to counter the offense by Does and move into the clinch position.
Does misses with a wild combination.
Bigsbee feints the counter takedown.
No joy there for Does, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
And Bigsbee tries to counter it with a takedown but Does pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Does throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Does sets himself, and Bigsbee steps forward looking for the clinch! Does avoids it this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Does fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Bigsbee steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Does.
A combination from Does does no damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bigsbee throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Does's waist but Does gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bigsbee off to one side.
Does swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Does misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Does throws the left hand but Bigsbee avoids the punch easily.
Bigsbee wants to counter with a clinch but Does pushes him away.
Bigsbee moves in looking to clinch but Does pushes him off.
Does throws a sloppy head kick

and Bigsbee counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Bigsbee.
Bigsbee tries to pull guard but Does won't allow it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The referee calls for Does to work.
Bigsbee is trying to pull guard but Does has him pressed against the cage.
Roger Does has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ned Bigsbee.

Does jumps guard and drags Bigsbee to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Bigsbee stays in close to Does's body and controls the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bigsbee throws a big right hand that misses.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bigsbee accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Bigsbee won't allow Does to sweep him here.

Bigsbee is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Does keeping moving, preventing Bigsbee from controlling successfully.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Does will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Some wild striking there from Does.
Bigsbee tries to counter with a clinch but Does shakes him off and moves away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bigsbee doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Does misses with a double jab.
Does swinging wildly here.
Bigsbee wants to counter with a clinch but Does pushes him away.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Bigsbee blocks a head kick by Does.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Roger Does dominated that round.
That's time! Does's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Bigsbee tries to clinch up.
Does throws a right hand that Bigsbee ducks under and follows up with a left that Bigsbee also avoids with ease.
Bigsbee drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Does defends it well.
Bigsbee tries to score a power double leg takedown but Does sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bigsbee somewhat.

Does misses with a two punch combination.

Does goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Bigsbee fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Does to the ground. Bigsbee is now in Does's guard.
Does is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Does throws his legs up looking for a submission but Bigsbee uses it to pass to side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The referee asks Bigsbee politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Bigsbee prefers to stall for the moment though.

Bigsbee misses with the ground and pound.
Bigsbee is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Does is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bigsbee can do to turn this around?
Bigsbee wants to lay and pray for a moment but Does keeps working.
Does tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

Bigsbee scores with punches to the body.
Bigsbee controlling well, preventing Does from escaping the position.
Bigsbee loading up with punches from the back mount - how long can Does hold on?
Bigsbee controls the action.
Ned Bigsbee has got the better of the ground game so far.

Does can't escape the position.
Bigsbee is punishing Does with some ground and pound.
Bigsbee missing with punches from the back.
Bigsbee trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Does looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
I would not like to be Does right now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ned Bigsbee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Does tries to bum rush Bigsbee with a series of wild strikes but Bigsbee uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Does sets himself, and Bigsbee steps forward looking for the clinch! Does avoids it this time.

Does scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Does lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Sloppy strikes from Does. Those never looked like landing.
Bigsbee steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Does.
Does throws a right and a left that both miss.
Does throws a half hearted mid kick.
Bigsbee tries to counter by closing the distance.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Bigsbee takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Bigsbee wants to control but Does is keeping him busy.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Does connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Roger Does is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
