Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Anderson Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexandr Mohlarenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Anderson Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alexandr Mohlarenko!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mohlarenko throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Silva was covering up waiting for the punch and Mohlarenko finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Silva has his hands on Mohlarenko's head, controlling the position.

Mohlarenko drops back, looking for a kneebar! Silva looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Silva looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Silva!


Silva decides to stand back up. Silva steps back and let's Mohlarenko get back to his feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Mohlarenko.
Silva looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Silva forces Mohlarenko back against the cage and clinches.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mohlarenko gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Silva.

Silva breaks from the clinch.

Silva closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mohlarenko's guard.
Silva controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Silva wants to control from the top but Mohlarenko keeps moving.
Silva is breathing heavily.
Silva missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mohlarenko is on top in guard.


Mohlarenko drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mohlarenko jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Mohlarenko tries to free his leg and advance position but Silva is retaining full guard.

Mohlarenko has gone for a leg lock! Silva slips out almost immediately though and dives into Mohlarenko's guard.

Mohlarenko looking for a guillotine here but Silva defends easily.

Silva got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mohlarenko has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Silva has managed to get both his arms back between Mohlarenko's legs - danger averted.

Mohlarenko is working an open guard so Silva takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Mohlarenko shoots in looking for a takedown. Silva tries to sprawl out of it but Mohlarenko keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Silva manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Silva is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



A momentary lapse in concentration from Mohlarenko enables Silva to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mohlarenko manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Mohlarenko working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Silva doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Silva manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Mohlarenko looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Our spies down at at Cozad MMA Los Angeles inform us that Mohlarenko has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
Anderson Silva overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mohlarenko looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Silva has picked Mohlarenko up and slammed him! Mohlarenko can't keep hold of the triangle and Silva manages to pass to side control!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Mohlarenko is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Silva is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Mohlarenko preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Mohlarenko looks like he's trying to stand up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Silva is looking for a kimura but Mohlarenko is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Silva to get the leverage.

Mohlarenko is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Silva pulls his head out easily.
Silva is trying to control. Mohlarenko wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Silva is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Mohlarenko can do to turn this around?
Mohlarenko wants to control but Silva is keeping busy.

Mohlarenko is looking for a triangle but Silva pushes his legs off easily.

Silva knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mohlarenko on the ground.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Silva working over Mohlarenko with some ground and pound. Mohlarenko looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Silva wants to take a breather but Mohlarenko is having none of it.

That was a close second round but I would say that Anderson Silva will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Mohlarenko closes the distance and clinches up with Silva, looking for a takedown. Mohlarenko pushes Silva against the cage but Silva circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Mohlarenko counters with a shoot takedown. Silva fights it but they end up in guard.
Silva has Mohlarenko pulled in close to control his posture.
Mohlarenko stays in close to Silva's body and controls the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mohlarenko wants to pass the guard but Silva is keeping the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Mohlarenko trying to control the position from guard on top but Silva is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Mohlarenko drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Mohlarenko as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Silva screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Mohlarenko! Nice submission victory there!
