PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Lou Mcguire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brava Tirail (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lou Mcguire!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Brava Tirail!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shigeki Fujiwara and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mcguire gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Tirail has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Mcguire regains guard immediately.
Mcguire looking to control.

Tirail got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mcguire has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Tirail has managed to get both his arms back between Mcguire's legs - danger averted.
Mcguire can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Tirail controls the pace.
Tirail really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mcguire. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Mcguire working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Tirail doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Tirail manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Tirail drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Mcguire is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Tirail moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Mcguire wants to control but Tirail postures up.

Tirail just content to control the position.
Mcguire is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Tirail is controlling him well.
Mcguire tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Tirail wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Tirail closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Tirail lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Mcguire trying to hold on to Tirail's head to control him but Tirail postures up.

Tirail drives through with a takedown into Mcguire's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tirail stops Mcguire from standing up.

Tirail shoots in but no luck this time.
Mcguire stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mcguire wants it to stay on the feet.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Tirail.
Tirail slows the pace down.
Mcguire wants to get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mcguire tries to bench press Tirail off him but Tirail keeps the position.
Mcguire is trying to control Tirail's posture but Tirail avoids it.

Mcguire looks to move to half guard but instead Tirail has passed into mount! Damn!
Tirail tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Let's hope that Tirail has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Tirail has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Mcguire regains half guard.
Tirail not doing much here.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Mcguire gets back to full guard.
Tirail engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Tirail.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Tirail darts in and clinches Mcguire up against the cage.

Tirail turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Mcguire tries to buck Tirail off but Tirail is having none of it.
Mcguire is trying to get back to his feet.
Tirail controlling the position.

Tirail is continuing to stall.
Mcguire manages to work his way to half guard, despite Tirail's best efforts.
Tirail looks to land a strike but Mcguire avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Tirail must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Mcguire wants to stand up but Tirail is controlling him.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Tirail stands up over Mcguire, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brava Tirail showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


A telegraphed takedown attempt from Tirail is defended easily by Mcguire.
Tirail fails to land the takedown.
Mcguire attempts a counter takedown but Tirail avoids it well and moves away.

Tirail scores with a takedown into Mcguire's guard.
Mcguire is trying to control the position from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Tirail throws an elbow that misses. Mcguire uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Tirail's guard. Nice move by Mcguire!

Tirail pulls Mcguire in close to prevent any damage.
Yet more stalling tactics from Tirail.

I would just about give that final round to Brava Tirail.
I've got Tirail winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
