PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Scott Wilkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Capanga Junior (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Wilkins might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to power. Scott Wilkins could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Capanga Junior's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Scott Wilkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Capanga Junior!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Kenichi Hosakawa and Tatsuya Matsuyama.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wilkins thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Junior if he has to take too many more of those.
Wilkins throws a body kick that misses.
Junior keeps the fight on the outside.
Junior feints the counter takedown.
Junior stuffs the takedown attempt from Wilkins. Wilkins gets slowly back to his feet.

Wilkins throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Junior was covering up waiting for the punch and Wilkins finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Junior wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wilkins content to stall in guard here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wilkins sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Junior's guard.

Wilkins is working for a submission of some sort.
Junior is not content to let Wilkins control the position.
Wilkins moves into full mount! Junior won't be happy about that!
Wilkins sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Junior is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Wilkins working for a submission but Junior is keeping him at bay.
Junior really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wilkins. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Wilkins with the ground and pound from mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wilkins trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Wilkins wants to finish this one by submission but Junior is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Wilkins.
Wilkins won't let Junior get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Wilkins trying to control but Junior is having none of it.

Wilkins looking to secure an arm triangle but Junior defends it well.
Junior is trying to stand.

Wilkins has hold of Junior's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Junior manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Junior tries to hold on but Wilkins postures up.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Junior can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Wilkins trying to control but Junior is having none of it.
We've been informed that Junior has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Junior is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Wilkins thowing shots but they're missing.
Junior is squirming around, avoiding Wilkins's attempts to control the action.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Wilkins sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Wilkins moves into the clinch.
Junior misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Junior has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Wilkins landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Junior tries to work over Wilkins's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Junior lands with a right to the head.
Wilkins prevents a body shot from Junior.
Junior goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Junior fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
A short uppercut from Junior.
Junior wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wilkins can't get the takedown.
Junior tries to work over Wilkins's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Junior is working Wilkins over against the cage.
Wilkins is pushing Junior up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Junior goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Wilkins drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Wilkins is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Junior can't fight it off and eventually Wilkins manages to take the fight to the floor. Junior looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Wilkins stands and steps away. Junior gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Junior drops Wilkins with a beautiful combination! Wilkins stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Junior is looking for the KO!

Wilkins is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Wilkins bobbing and weaving nicely... He's ducked under a jab and ducks again but ooooooh! Junior comes at him with an uppercut from hell! Wilkins falls to the canvas, unconscious! This one is all over! Oh man, looking at the replay that was right on the button! Wilkins was out before he hit the floor!
