Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jackson Tate!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Jorge Garcia and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tate misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Perez closes the distance and clinches.

Perez has Tate pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Perez pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Tate tumbling to the mat - Perez dives into Tate's guard.

Tate working for a triangle but Perez defends it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Perez engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Tate escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Perez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Perez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tate on the ground.
Perez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tate swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Perez winds up and cracks Tate with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Perez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tate swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Perez has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Tate is on top in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Tate working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Tate is looking to stand up but Perez won't let him.

Perez tries to strike from the bottom.
Perez looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Tate puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Perez wants to control but Tate is keeping busy.

Tate is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Perez sees it coming and defends easily.
Tate lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Perez keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Perez on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Perez tries to get out of the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Perez controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.

Tate is trying for a kimura here. Perez looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Tate wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jackson Tate!
