PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Lambert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Justin Biggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lambert comes to the cage accompanied by Aaron Lewis - Country Boy. Justin Biggs is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike Lambert!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Justin Biggs!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Edson Gomes and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lambert misses with a takedown
and Biggs counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Biggs tries to land a front kick but Lambert steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Biggs loads up on a big right hand but Lambert slips the punch.
Biggs misses with an uppercut
and Lambert counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.


It looks like Justin Biggs has been cut.

Biggs fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Lambert.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Biggs ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Biggs has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Biggs tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Lambert manages to move to mount!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Biggs is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Lambert has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Biggs tries to lock up and control but Lambert gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Lambert takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Biggs is looking to get to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lambert looking to control and managing it successfully.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Lambert is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Biggs to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Biggs shrugs it off.

That was a close round but I would say that Mike Lambert will probably get the nod.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Lambert scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Lambert is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Biggs is looking to get back to is feet but Lambert passes into side control.

Lambert's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Lambert works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Lambert is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Biggs doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Lambert.

Biggs throws a nice looking combination but Lambert bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Lambert wants to lay and pray for a moment but Biggs keeps working.

Lambert remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Lambert seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Biggs for as long as he can get away with.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mike Lambert.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Lambert, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
