The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Winalot shoots in for a takedown but Aldo shows good takedown defense.
Winalot tries to clinch but Aldo is having none of it.
Aldo appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Winalot lands a nice hook to Aldo's body. Aldo takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Jose Aldo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Winalot needs to keep his hands up - Aldo had a free shot at his head there.
Winalot tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Aldo swivels and escapes.
Aldo throws a combination. Winalot tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

It looks like Ernie Winalot has been cut.

Winalot gets tackled into the cage by Aldo. Aldo maintains the clinch.
Winalot tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ernie Winalot. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Aldo drives through and clinches with Winalot against the cage.

Aldo moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Aldo paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Aldo darts in and clinches Winalot up against the cage.

Aldo lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Aldo breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Aldo grits his teeth and throws a big right-left combo! Winalot takes both shots clean on the chin and is out cold! Aldo cracks him once more on his way down, as the crowd goes wild! They enjoyed that one!

Jose Aldo decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
