Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Abraham Safforn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Kelly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kelly comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Black Belt Jones Theme Song, you Jive Turkey! kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Abraham Safforn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 33 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jim Kelly!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Kenichi Hosakawa and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Safforn misses with a body shot.
Kelly swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Safforn counters with a leg kick.
Kelly attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Safforn tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kelly was well out of range. Poor timing from Safforn.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Safforn!


It looks like Jim Kelly has been cut.
Safforn looks to land a body kick but Kelly moved away.

Safforn tries to clinch but Kelly is having none of it.
Safforn scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Kelly looks to land a right hand but Safforn moved out of range.

Kelly gets caught flat footed, as Safforn shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Kelly really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Safforn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Safforn has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kelly can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Safforn has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Safforn changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kelly looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Kelly wants to control but Safforn postures up.
Kelly parries the strikes from Safforn easily there. Safforn is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Kelly to escape.

Kelly is looking to score with low kicks.
Kelly throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Safforn stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Kelly lands a big head kick that sends Safforn tumbling to the mat! Kelly takes a step backwards and waves Safforn back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Safforn is rocked!


Jeez, Abraham Safforn's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Abraham Safforn's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:26 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Jim Kelly!
Jim Kelly bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
