PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Abraham Ballard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Artemios Padovan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Abraham Ballard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Artemios Padovan!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Ryoma Takatsuka and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Padovan shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ballard's guard.
Padovan slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Ballard is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Padovan content to stall in guard here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Let's hope that Padovan has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Padovan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ballard swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Padovan is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Padovan closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Padovan has Ballard pressed against the cage, preventing Ballard from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Artemios Padovan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round!



Excellent takedown into side control there by Padovan.

Well Padovan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
