Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tony Abbot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 40 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dimon Boets!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Igor Prikhodko and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Boets shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Boets is looking to work some ground and pound but Abbot has wrist control.
Abbot tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Boets controlling from the top position.
Abbot will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Boets trying to control the position from guard on top but Abbot is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Boets loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Boets has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Abbot controls Boets momentarily but Boets frees himself.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Boets is nestled in close to Abbot, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Boets is stalling here. Abbot is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Boets seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Abbot has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Boets has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at St Petersburg MMA Gym. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Boets moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Boets manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Abbot manages to get himself to full guard.

Abbot has his foot on Boets's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Boets works his way back into a safe position though.

Boets drops back looking for a leg! Abbot is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Abbot manages to kick Boets off! Boets jumps back into Abbot's guard.

Abbot had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Boets defends it easily.
Boets is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Boets drops back, looking for a kneebar! Abbot looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Abbot looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Abbot!


Abbot is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Boets is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Boets gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Boets is concentrating on defense, preventing Abbot from advancing position.

Boets sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Abbot scores with a crisp jab that stopped Boets in his tracks.

It looks like Tony Abbot has been cut.
Boets stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Boets throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Abbot is looking to counter punch.

Boets feints and as Abbot raises his hands in defense, Boets changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Abbot is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Boets defends well.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Well Boets has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
