Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Darwin Alvarez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Runar Styrjoeld!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Sosuke Kotani and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Styrjoeld looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Alvarez tries a head kick but it misses.
Styrjoeld throws a series of punches but Alvarez avoids them all with ease.
No luck for Alvarez with that takedown attempt.
Alvarez shoots for a double leg takedown but Styrjoeld sprawls well. He's pushed Alvarez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Alvarez slips a jab and a cross from Styrjoeld.
Styrjoeld lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Styrjoeld uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Alvarez has time to react.
Styrjoeld misses with a straight left.
Alvarez slips a straight right by Styrjoeld.
Alvarez doesn't manage to clinch there - Styrjoeld circles away.

Alvarez throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Styrjoeld was covering up waiting for the punch and Alvarez finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Styrjoeld is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Alvarez dives into side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Styrjoeld can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's one minute gone in the round.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Alvarez decides to stand back up. Alvarez steps back and let's Styrjoeld get back to his feet.
Alvarez tries to score a power double leg takedown but Styrjoeld sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Alvarez somewhat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Darwin Alvarez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Styrjoeld scores with a jab to the jaw.
Styrjoeld misses with a looping left.

Alvarez gets a clinch.
Alvarez is looking to take this one to the mat.

Alvarez is pushing Styrjoeld up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Alvarez is trying to pull guard but Styrjoeld turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Styrjoeld is trying to break the clinch but Alvarez has him pressed against the cage.

Alvarez breaks from the clinch.

Alvarez scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Styrjoeld is trying to stand.

Alvarez is trying for a kimura here. Styrjoeld looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Alvarez wins by kimura!
