The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Johnson wants it to stay on the feet.
As Patriot looks to move away, Johnson throws a big counter combo but Patriot just gets out of the way.
Johnson throws a head kick but Patriot moves out of range.
Demetrious Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Patriot shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Johnson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Johnson takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Johnson stalks Patriot and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Patriot's face. Patriot staggers backwards, shaken.
Johnson is breathing heavily.

Patriot wants to counter with a clinch but Johnson pushes him away.

Patriot fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Johnson, pushing him back against the cage.
Patriot misses with a punch to the body.
Johnson is trying to break the clinch but Patriot is controlling him.

Patriot turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Patriot manages to end up in side control.
Johnson bucks up and tries to throw Patriot off but instead Patriot has got his back!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
