Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kenny Brandon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Javier Pena (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brandon comes to the cage accompanied by Catch Em By Surprise. Javier Pena will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brandon shoots in looking for a takedown but Pena manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Brandon's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Pena swats away the attempt to clinch by Brandon.
Brandon has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Death Valley Training Facility in the buildup to the fight.

Pena gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Pena is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Brandon presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Brandon goes for a double leg but Pena avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Pena continues to drive forward.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Brandon lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Pena has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Pena and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Brandon throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Pena looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.
Pena takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Pena throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Brandon sees it coming and avoids it easily.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

No luck for Brandon with that takedown attempt.
Brandon throws a right and a left that Pena avoids nicely.
Brandon looks to land a body kick but Pena moved away.
A head kick from Pena lands but Brandon takes it in his stride.
Pena will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Pena throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Brandon on the side of the head.
Brandon tries to close the distance and clinch but Pena swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Brandon shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Pena makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Pena has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

I would just about give that final round to Javier Pena.

Javier Pena decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
