PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Josh Seth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nucky DIaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Josh Seth has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Josh Seth!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Nucky DIaz!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Phil Schofield and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DIaz has a takedown stuffed.
Seth lands with a kick to the ribs.
Seth with a poor takedown

and DIaz counters with a takedown into side control.
DIaz takes a little break here. Seth wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Seth is trying to improve his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
DIaz fails to land a wild elbow strike.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Seth is trying to improve his position.
DIaz scores with punches from side control.
DIaz controls the position.
Seth is trying to control DIaz's posture but DIaz avoids it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
DIaz's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Seth is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Seth wants to control but DIaz postures up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

DIaz fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Seth, pushing him back against the cage.
DIaz has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Seth avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
DIaz wants a takedown.
Josh Seth has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nucky DIaz.
Seth is trying to push DIaz away but DIaz has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Seth prevents a takedown attempt there.
Seth wants to break the clinch but can't.
A frustrated look appears on Seth's face as he tries to break the clinch.
DIaz goes for a takedown in the clinch but Seth prevents it.
Seth goes for a takedown attempt but DIaz pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

DIaz shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Seth's guard.

Seth throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! DIaz escapes and throws Seth's legs to the side, diving into side control!
You can see the frustration on Seth's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Seth is looking for a sweep.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nucky DIaz dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


DIaz tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Seth defends well and DIaz ends up having to push Seth into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
DIaz shoots in looking for a takedown. Seth tries to sprawl out of it but DIaz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Seth manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Seth lands a straight punch to the body, keeping DIaz at a distance.
DIaz shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Seth bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Seth scores with a head kick.
DIaz is trying hard to land a takedown here. Seth sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Josh Seth has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nucky DIaz.
Seth stalks DIaz and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into DIaz's face. DIaz staggers backwards, shaken.
Seth scores with a head kick. DIaz tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

DIaz closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
DIaz is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Seth's shoulder. That is not cool.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Seth regains half guard.
DIaz stalling.
Seth wants to improve his position but DIaz is controlling well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
DIaz performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Let's hope that DIaz has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Seth plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Seth throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

DIaz looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Seth is wriggling around but DIaz manages to pass to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

DIaz with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
DIaz is continuing to stall.
DIaz landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Seth trying to hold on to DIaz's head to control him but DIaz postures up.
DIaz is figuring out what he wants to do next.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Seth wants to control but DIaz passes into side.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Josh Seth dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


DIaz shoots in for a takedown but Seth shows good takedown defense.
Seth fails with a takedown attempt.
DIaz throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Seth's waist but Seth gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing DIaz off to one side.

DIaz feints and as Seth raises his hands in defense, DIaz changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
DIaz advances to half guard.
DIaz trying to control the pace.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Seth is trying to maintain the position but DIaz is very close to passing his half guard.
DIaz trying to control the pace.
Seth wants to control but DIaz is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Seth wants to improve his position but DIaz is controlling well.
Seth trying to control from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
A head kick misses from Seth.

DIaz looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Seth!
DIaz happy to just control the position for now.
More stalling from DIaz.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
DIaz fails to land a wild elbow strike.
DIaz staying calm.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

DIaz clinches up with Seth and pushes him back against the cage.
Seth gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from DIaz.
Josh Seth has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nucky DIaz.

DIaz turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and DIaz manages to end up in side control.
Seth tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Seth keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Nucky DIaz comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think DIaz has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
