Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Aviv Glazer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thiago Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Aviv Glazer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Thiago Alvarez!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Summer Carpenter and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Glazer feints and as Alvarez raises his hands in defense, Glazer changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Glazer throwing strikes but missing.
Glazer postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Glazer tries to free his leg and advance position but Alvarez is retaining full guard.
Glazer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Alvarez on the ground.
Alvarez has a closed guard, preventing Glazer from standing up.

Alvarez looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Glazer wants to pass the guard but Alvarez is keeping the position.
Glazer postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Glazer accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Alvarez looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Alvarez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Glazer can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Glazer looking to sit in guard and control but Alvarez gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Glazer wants to sweep here but Alvarez controlling him for the moment.
Alvarez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Glazer swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Glazer looking for a guillotine here but Alvarez defends easily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Glazer misses with an uppercut. Alvarez saw that one coming.
Glazer tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Glazer has Alvarez up against the cage in a clinch.
Alvarez connects with a nasty looking knee right to Glazer's face.

Alvarez ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Alvarez no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Glazer wants to get up but he can't break Alvarez's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Alvarez has his foot on Glazer's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Glazer works his way back into a safe position though.
Glazeris looking to pass into half guard but Alvarez pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Alvarez is in guard.
Glazer throws some shots to the body, keeping his opponent honest.

Glazer wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Alvarez shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Glazer as he avoids it easily.
Glazer doesn't manage to clinch there - Alvarez circles away.
Glazer connects with the punch.
Glazer throws a leg kick that is checked
and Alvarez counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Glazer misses with a straight right.
Glazer tries to clinch up.
Glazer shoots in but no luck this time.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Alvarez.
Glazer shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Alvarez pinned against the cage. Alvarez gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Glazer has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Glazer stands up and waves to Alvarez to follow him.

Glazer throws a leg kick but Alvarez moved away.

Glazer drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The ground and pound from Glazer seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Glazer tries to advance to mount but can't.
You can see the frustration on Alvarez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Glazer is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Alvarez knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Alvarez regains half guard.

Glazer thows a huge punch but Alvarez dodges it nicely.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Alvarez won't allow Glazer to pass to mount.

Alvarez has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Glazer. Oh but Alvarez has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Glazer goes limp - he's gone! Alvarez jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
