Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Clay Mercer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Watson!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Watson blocks a head kick by Mercer.
Mercer stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Mercer looks to land a right hand but Watson moved out of range.
Watson dodges the punch combination from Mercer.
Watson looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Mercer ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Watson moves away.
Mercer definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Watson throws the left hand but Mercer avoids the punch easily.
Mercer takes one to the side of the head.
Mercer moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Mercer misses with a left hand
and Watson counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Mercer moves out of range of the strikes.
Mercer scores with a decent looking hook.
Mercer throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Watson lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Mercer throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Watson sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Watson has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Watson dips to his left and cracks Mercer with an uppercut!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Clay Mercer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mercer uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Watson.

It looks like Clay Mercer has been cut.

Watson lands a big head kick that sends Mercer tumbling to the mat! Watson takes a step backwards and waves Mercer back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Mercer is rocked!
Watson connects with a superb combination that knocks Mercer out cold! The referee charges across the mat and tackles Watson before he can land any more shots to the unconscious Mercer!

After winning the bout, John Watson thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
