Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michael Amp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bittor Xavier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Xavier is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Jane's Addiction- Mountain Song. Michael Amp had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Xavier darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Xavier seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Xavier is stalling here. Amp is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Xavier seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Amp has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Amp has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Xavier sneaks back into half guard.
Well, if Amp is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Xavier makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Xavier.
Xavier wants to sweep but no luck.

Xavier looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Xavier is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Amp is aware though and is defending well.
Amp has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Amp wants to get up but he can't break Xavier's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Xavier escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Amp gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Good leg kick by Amp there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Amp fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Amp stuns Xavier with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Xavier wants to take a breather but Amp is having none of it.
Amp has hold of Xavier's hands but Xavier slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Xavier wants to free his trapped foot but Amp is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Xavier wants to take a breather but Amp is having none of it.

That was a close round but I would say that Michael Amp will probably get the nod.

Amp connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Amp cracks Xavier with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Amp leaves Xavier with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Xavier is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Michael Amp is winning the standup battle so far.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Amp lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Xavier has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Xavier and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

and Amp counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Amp slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Xavier tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Amp defends well and Xavier ends up having to push Amp into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Xavier is breathing heavily.
Amp throws a right and a left that both miss.
Xavier is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Xavier dives in for a single leg takedown but Amp sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Amp was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Amp fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Xavier.

Xavier shoots in looking for a takedown but Amp manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Xavier's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Xavier's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Xavier on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

No luck for Xavier with that takedown attempt.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Xavier is trying to keep Amp in close.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Amp, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
