Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Heron Palms (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leo Pitbull (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Leo Pitbull!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Alexandre Firmino and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Palms tries to land a front kick but Pitbull steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Pitbull checks a low kick from Palms.
Palms lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Pitbull throws a head kick that misses.
Palms appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Palms falls off balance throwing a combination
and Pitbull counters with a left and a right that stings Palms.
Palms looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Palms gets caught flat footed, as Pitbull shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Pitbull stopping the sweep attempt from Palms.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pitbull trying to control the position from guard on top but Palms is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Palms will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Pitbull advances position into side control!

Pitbull is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Palms has escaped the position, nice work there.

Pitbull decides to stand up, so the ref orders Palms to his feet.
Pitbull tries a head kick but it misses.
Palms throws a predictable looking body shot
and Pitbull counters with a nice body shot.
Pitbull fails in his attempt to clinch.
Pitbull tries to clinch up but Palms circles away and keeps his distance.
Palms lands a nice shot that snaps Pitbull's head back.
Palms listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Pitbull throws a head kick that misses.
Pitbull thows a leg kick but Palms checks it

and Palms counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Palms.

Pitbull is looking for a triangle but Palms pushes his legs off easily.

Palms seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Palms with a nice head shot there.
Palms is stalling in the full guard.
Palms's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Palms tries to free his leg and advance position but Pitbull is retaining full guard.
Palms controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Pitbull throws a sloppy head kick and Palms moves out of range easily.
Heron Palms seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Palms misses with a series of wild punches.
A swing and a miss from Palms.

Pitbull clinches up against the cage.

Pitbull pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Palms finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Nice shot lands for Palms.
Palms keeps the fight on the outside.
Pitbull misses with a wild body shot.
Palms tries a head kick but it misses.
Pitbull throws out a counter right but Palms avoids it with no problem.

Pitbull uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Palms.
Pitbull walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Pitbull wants to clinch up but Palms keeps it at a distance.
Palms lands a nice shot that snaps Pitbull's head back.
Pitbull takes one to the chin there.
Palms throws a jab when Pitbull was well out of range.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Pitbull closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Palms's guard.
Palms managing to control the position.
Pitbull wants to get up but he can't break Palms's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Pitbull prevents Palms from getting back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Heron Palms will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Danga de danga de dang - Palms scores with a four punch combination!
Palms is looking to score with low kicks.
Heron Palms is winning the standup battle so far.
Palms avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Palms jabs Pitbull right on the nose. Pitbull blinks but takes it well.

Pitbull feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Palms has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pitbull can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Palms looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pitbull is one step ahead there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Palms keeping moving, preventing Pitbull from controlling successfully.
Palms is pulling down on Pitbull's head to control his posture.

Pitbull stands and steps away. Palms gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Palms is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Palms looks to land a right hand but Pitbull moved out of range.
A slapping body kick lands there for Pitbull.
Pitbull swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Pitbull avoids a kick to the body.
Palms is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Pitbull on the wrong end of a nice hook.

Pitbull scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Pitbull goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Palms has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Pitbull but great work by Palms.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Palms in side control, just content to control the action for now.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Palms working away.
Palms slows the pace down.

Palms tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Palms staying calm.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Pitbull prevents Palms from improving position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Heron Palms dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Pitbull wants to clinch up but Palms keeps it at a distance.
Palms misses with a hook. Pitbull ducked under it nicely.
Sloppy strikes from Palms. Those never looked like landing.
Pitbull throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Pitbull slips a jab from Palms.

Pitbull closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pitbull lands in his opponent's guard.

Palms is trying to control but can't.
Pitbull is looking to stall here but Palms recovers full guard.
Palms has Pitbull pulled in close to control his posture.
Palms wants to sweep here but Pitbull controlling him for the moment.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Pitbull wants to control from the top but Palms keeps moving.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Palms shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Pitbull's guard.
Pitbull looking to hit a scissor sweep but Palms is one step ahead there.
Palms controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Palms not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Palms gets to his feet. Pitbull looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Palms rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Pitbull counters with a left and a right that stings Palms.
Leo Pitbull is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Pitbull clinches.

Palms pulls guard.
Pitbull throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Palms lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Heron Palms overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Palms content to stall in guard here.
Heron Palms is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because Palms is stinking the place up with his stalling.
Pitbull working a defensive guard but Palms manages to pass into side control anyway.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Pitbull gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Leo Pitbull has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Palms sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Heron Palms.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Palms, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
