PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Stevie Ray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peaky Blinder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Peaky Blinder!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, John Roberts and Alyssa Summers.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blinder slips under a jab from Ray.
Blinder has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Ray is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Blinder throws an off balance right hand
and Ray counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Blinder throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Ray sees it coming and avoids it easily.
A little feinted left hand from Ray on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Peaky Blinder seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ray stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Blinder.
Blinder misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
We've been told by Ray's head coaches at The Cave Fighting Team that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Blinder wants to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ray's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Ray duly obliges.
Ray lands with a hook. Blinder tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Blinder wants to clinch up but Ray keeps it at a distance.

Ray throws a shot from downtown. Blinder moves away and avoids it.
Blinder tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Ray was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Blinder does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Blinder paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Blinder throws an overhand right that lands on Ray's shoulder, as Ray tries to avoid the shot.

Blinder fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Ray has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Ray lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Ray seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Ray needs to keep his hands up - Blinder had a free shot at his head there.

A lazy left from Ray finds it's target.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ray lands a really nice looking cross but Blinder seems unphased.

Blinder fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ray manages to avoid it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Blinder throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ray stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

That was a close second round but I would say that Stevie Ray will probably get the nod.

Ray sends Blinder crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Ray is motioning to the referee to let Blinder up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
