PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alex Collier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quach Minh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Minh is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by beautiful life. Alex Collier could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Quach Minh's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alex Collier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Quach Minh!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Minh closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Collier did well to prevent Minh getting side control.
Minh takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Minh is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Collier sees it coming and defends easily.
Minh should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Collier gets back to full guard.
Collier trying to keep a closed guard but Minh is proving a slippery customer.
Minh being controlled here momentarily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Collier not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Minh is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Collier is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Minh tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Collier paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Minh scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Collier is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Collier wants to control but Minh postures up.
Collier is looking for a sweep.

Minh stands up and beckons Collier to his feet.

Minh looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Minh throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Collier tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Minh is in Collier's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Minh shoots in and bounces Collier off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Collier will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Minh loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Minh rushes Collier and presses him up against the cage.

Minh has hold of one of Collier's legs. Collier is fighting the takedown attempt but Minh gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Minh is looking to stand up but Collier won't let him.
Quach Minh has got the better of the ground game so far.

Collier is looking for a sweep. Minh is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Minh is controlling the pace.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Collier shoots in but Minh avoids the takedown attempt easily.

And Minh tries to counter it with a takedown but Collier pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Minh pushes Collier off and gets back to his feet.
Minh fails with an attempt to clinch.

As Minh looks to move away, Collier throws a big counter combo but Minh just gets out of the way.
Minh has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Collier misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Quach Minh showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Minh fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Collier to the ground. Minh is now in Collier's guard.

Quach Minh comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Minh has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
