Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joe Bailey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brandon Ortiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ortiz is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: El Hornazo. Brandon Ortiz has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Bailey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Brandon Ortiz!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Steve Montenegro and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bailey has taken the fight to the clinch.
Bailey tries to work over Ortiz's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Bailey blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Ortiz lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Bailey.
Bailey is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

The referee is keeping an eye on Bailey - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Bailey bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Ortiz's head backwards.


It looks like Brandon Ortiz has been cut.
Ortiz is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Bailey throws a push kick but Ortiz slaps the foot to one side.
It seemed like Ortiz was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Bailey throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ortiz.
A little jabbing left from Ortiz on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

and Ortiz counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Ortiz avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Bailey rushes Ortiz and presses him up against the cage.

Bailey has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Ortiz is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Bailey throws out a loose jab but Ortiz uses good head movement to avoid it.
It seemed like Ortiz was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Bailey lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Bailey pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Ortiz back to the cage. Bailey follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ortiz slips under a jab.
Ortiz lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Bailey tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Ortiz manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Ortiz checks a leg kick.

and Ortiz connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Oh Bailey is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Bailey darts in and clinches Ortiz up against the cage.
Bailey seems to have got his legs back now.
Bailey misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Ortiz lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Ortiz prevents a takedown attempt there.
Ortiz has a couple of punches blocked by Bailey.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Ortiz creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Bailey is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Ortiz to keep the fight standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Ortiz cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Ortiz counters with a nice uppercut.
Ortiz stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Bailey.

Oooooh!!! Bailey has knocked Ortiz down with a huge combo! Bailey steps away and waves a wobbly Ortiz back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Ortiz is still on wobbly legs! Can Bailey finish him?
Joe Bailey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bailey tries to clinch there but Ortiz circles away.

Bailey moves into the clinch.
Ortiz stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Bailey jumps guard but Ortiz stands there with Bailey around his waist. Bailey gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Brandon Ortiz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Bailey scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Bailey pushes off an throws an elbow but Ortiz leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Bailey breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Bailey throws an overhand right that drops Ortiz like a sack of potatoes! Bailey dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joe Bailey!
