Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jerome Greer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matthew Ryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matthew Ryan has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jerome Greer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matthew Ryan!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Anthony Taglia and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ryan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Greer, pushing him back against the cage.
Ryan looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Greer lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.


It looks like Matthew Ryan has been cut.
Ryan tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Greer just stands there and leans against the cage.

Greer has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Ryan regains guard immediately.
Greer is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Greer's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Greer decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Greer connects with a nice short shot to Ryan's temple.

Greer working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Greer content to control rather than advance.
Greer looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Greer counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ryan won't be happy with that.
Greer is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ryan can do to turn this around?

Greer has Ryan pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Greer pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Ryan tumbling to the mat - Greer dives into Ryan's guard.
Ryan is wriggling around but Greer manages to pass to half guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Greer lands a nice short elbow.

Greer will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Greer has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Greer closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Ryan's guard.

Greer keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Ryan's head.

Greer decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Ryan, up you get!

Greer seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Greer is figuring out what he wants to do next.

If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because Greer is stinking the place up with his stalling.

Greer escapes and gets back to his feet.

Greer closes the distance and pushes Ryan back into the cage.

Greer controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Greer wants to stand but Ryan is controlling his posture from full guard.
Greer is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Greer has his feet on Ryan's thighs here. He's pushed Ryan off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Ryan screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
