The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Danielson slips under a jab from Stevenson.
Some wild striking there from Stevenson.
Stevenson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Stevenson throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Danielson slips a jab and a cross from Stevenson.
Stevenson tests Danielson's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Danielson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Stevenson lands a nice shot to the body.
Danielson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Stevenson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Danielson somewhat.

Austin Stevenson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Danielson walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Danielson manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Danielson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

The fighters circling - Stevenson throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
A looping hook to the body misses from Stevenson. Danielson does a little dance to reset his feet.

Danielson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Stevenson, pushing him back against the cage.

Danielson lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stevenson is trying to control but can't.

Danielson wants to work for an arm triangle but Stevenson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Danielson is landing with some decent strikes but Stevenson is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Danielson lands a big shot there that rocks Stevenson but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Stevenson is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Stevenson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Danielson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Danielson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Stevenson is desperately trying to improve his position but Danielson has a good base and remains in mount.
