PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Kayden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gov Deals (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Kayden might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Promontory. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kyle Kayden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gov Deals!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Columbo Gatti and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some bone on bone action there as Kayden checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Kayden tries to counter with a takedown but Deals is quick to defend against it.
Kayden feints and as Deals raises his hands in defense, Kayden changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Deals tries to strike from the bottom.
Kayden passes Deals's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Kayden seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Kayden is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Deals doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kayden.
Deals wants to get back to full guard.
Kayden slows the pace down in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kayden seems to be looking for submissions.
Deals wants to control but Kayden is keeping busy and won't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Kayden is nestled in close to Deals, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Deals punching from the bottom.
Deals is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Kayden connects with a nice short shot to Deals's temple.
Kayden is taking a breather. Deals says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The fighters are battling for position here. Deals manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Kayden is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Deals is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Kayden rolls with it to try and escape but Deals cranks on the arm and Kayden is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
