PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wayne Roach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christopher Enstone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Wayne Roach!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Christopher Enstone!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Paul Tew and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Enstone looking to score a takedown here. Roach is defending well but Enstone drives through and ends up in Roach's guard.
Roach controlling Enstone's posture.

Enstone thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Enstone must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Roach wants to sweep but no luck.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Roach has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Enstone is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Enstone manages to break the clinch.
Roach tries to clinch up but Enstone circles away and keeps his distance.
Enstone changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Roach gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Enstone to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Roach seems keen to control Enstone's posture.
Enstone wants to stand but Roach has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Enstone missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Roach is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Enstone presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Roach stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Enstone stalls.
Roach really is a fat lump.

Roach gets control of Enstone's arms and successfully pulls guard. Roach will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Roach might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Roach is on top in guard.


Roach decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Enstone, up you get!

Enstone closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Roach did well to prevent Enstone getting side control.

Roach has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Enstone is on him like a limpet, forcing Roach back against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Enstone gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Roach is pulling down on Enstone's head. It's preventing any offense from Enstone, at least for the moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Enstone stops Roach from standing up.
Enstone trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Enstone wants to get up but he can't break Roach's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Roach pulls Enstone in close to his closed guard and prevents Enstone from doing any damage or advancing position.
Roach wants to sweep but no luck.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Roach is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Enstone shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Enstone showed some decent athleticism there.
Still in half guard, Enstone seems content to control.
Roach is looking to improve his position.
Roach keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Enstone trying to control from half guard but Roach is working away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Wayne Roach's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Enstone takes the fight into the clinch.

Enstone escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Enstone gets the takedown into side control.
Roach can't do much from the bottom here.

Roach throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Enstone throws a head kick but Roach moves out of range.

Enstone drives through with a takedown into Roach's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Enstone tries to stand but Roach is controlling from the bottom.
Enstone wants to stand and escape but instead Roach has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Roach working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Enstone's head.
Roach won't allow Enstone to sweep him here.

Enstone kicks Roach off and gets to his feet.

Roach shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Roach was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Roach tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Enstone is looking for a sweep.
Enstone is trying to control Roach's posture but Roach avoids it.
Enstone manages to work his way to half guard, despite Roach's best efforts.
Enstone is trying to maintain the position but Roach is very close to passing his half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Roach looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Enstone with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Enstone tries to kick Roach off in order to stand up. Roach Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Enstone wants to control but Roach postures up.
Enstone is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Roach is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Roach with shots to the head and body - Enstone looks very uncomfortable down there.
Enstone wants to control but Roach is having none of it.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Roach cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Enstone is looking to get to half guard.

Roach avoids the attempt from Enstone to control.
Enstone is bucking up trying to escape but Roach cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Roach pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Enstone is wriggling around trying to escape.
Roach lands with some strikes.
Enstone tries to reverse the position but Roach maintains control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Enstone lands with a hook. Roach tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Roach is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Enstone decides to stand up, so the ref orders Roach to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
An inside leg kick from Enstone misses.
Enstone tries to clinch but Roach is having none of it.
It looked like Roach was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Enstone throws a head kick but Roach moves out of range.
As Enstone looks to move away, Roach throws a big counter combo but Enstone just gets out of the way.

Enstone gets a clinch.
Enstone has a couple of punches blocked by Roach.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Enstone has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Roach is trying to keep an underhook but Enstone manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Roach manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Enstone keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Roach takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Enstone throws an elbow but it's blocked.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Enstone successfully pulls guard.

Roach stands up and waves to Enstone to follow him.
Horrible takedown attempt by Roach or perhaps it was just good defense by Enstone, which made it look bad.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Enstone throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Roach seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Enstone shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Roach is trying to defend but Enstone finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Roach kicks off Enstone and gets to his feet.
Wayne Roach is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Enstone's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Enstone duly obliges.

Enstone closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Roach kicks off Enstone and gets to his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Christopher Enstone seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Enstone throws a half hearted mid kick.

Roach swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Enstone displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Roach tries to clinch there but Enstone circles away.
Roach dives in and grabs Enstone's left leg, looking for a takedown. Enstone pushes down on Roach's head and hops out.
Enstone tries to counter by closing the distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wayne Roach. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Roach has his feet on Enstone's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Wayne Roach.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Roach, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
